What a frustrating day. I spent hours trying to get the wipers adjusted on my 74. I am following the instructions in the AIM with no success. The left (drivers side) arm is hitting the stop pretty hard, which is putting a lot of pressure on the arm. I'm not sure how but the pin that goes from the wiper arm into the blade broke - wrecking a brand new wiper arm. In addition the new wiper motor is now only clicking and not going around in a full circle. I hate days like this. Any thoughts on a good way to adjust the wipers. It seemed like no matter how I attached the wiper transmission to the wiper motor I could not get it right. Any help would be appreciated.
B74,
Sounds like you've a GREAT day.
If you have the 2 sheets from the AIM, you have the info that I'm aware of.
So...
Are the arms on the correct side?
Are the rods completly loose and free to move in the transmission
when you set the arms?
Is the motor within the given tolerances left to right?
Is the windshield wiper stop bracket installed properly?
Is the adjustment screw 'A' out of wack?
I've been known to take everything apart and start over because the more I screw with things the worse they get.
Regards,
Alan
