I assume the answer may be no, but can you run Royal Purple Synchromax Manual Transmission Fluid in a 1969 M21 manual transmission?

It's designed to run on 80/90 gear lube. That's what I have always used. The synthetics are too slippery to protect the gears.

I think Synchromesh is a little light for this type of transmission. I have ran synchromesh in the TKO that is in my car. Someone else please confirm this for us. I did however run Mobil synthetic gear lube in my M20 when I had this transmission. It seemed to help the M20.

Nope, you cannot run Synchromax in your Muncie. This lube is basically automatic transmission fluid and is designed for the T-5, T-56, and some of the newer manual transmissions. Stick with the recommended 90W.

I'm using RedLine's manual transmission oil in my Richmond 5 speed. The transmission shifts MUCH smoother now than when I had a synthetic gear lube in it. Little pricey, but well worth it .

I think that if you look at the Royal purple website the appropriate gear oil would be the Max-gear 75w90 or 80w90.
You could also call royal purple.
