For the 82 its been going through a lot of work so i figured why not. What should my main choices be? I dont know much about them so id love some suggestions
Well, first off get a roller cam and not flat tappet. They are more money, but with the zinc removed from our motor oil the flat tappets are volunerable to failure....Just my .02.......

will def keep in mind
about the cash if your going to upgrade it do it right no big deal
now just the question of what one to get
If you're keeping the stock heads, then you're lift-limited to around .450.
As Gordonm noted, need a little more detail on what you have and what you want
As for doing a roller-cam swap, it's been beat to death but a flat-tappet cam will live just fine with the right (non GF-4) oil. Doing a roller swap would pretty much require a top, since different springs would be required. Roller cam lift also typically start beyond what the stock heads can use.
A flat-tappet swap will be around $300 or so and can easily be a weekend project; budget at least $1200 for a roller-cam conversion with the cost of the kit, springs, etc. More if you're going to pay a shop to set up the springs.
