Default Quadrajet Part Numbers

I bought a correct part number Quadrajet (7043203) for my 73 L48 4 speed. I disasssembled the carb for a total rebuild and noticed that the part number cast into the baseplate was 7030782. Should these two numbers match or are the bowl and baseplate numbers different? Where could I find correct component part numbers for a 7043203 carb. Thanks Dean

Hi Dean,
I checked my 71 Q-Jet and the only number I see on the base plate is cast into a circle about 1/2" in diameter. It doesn't match the number stamped into the carb body.
Is this the base plate number you're seeing?
Regards,
Alan

Default Throttle Body Numbers

There are two numbers and one letter cast into the throttle plate. On what would be the back drivers side corner between the bolt hold and secondary bore there is a "69" and "7030782" cast into the top of the plate. On the opposite side a "C" is cast into the plate. I'll post pictures when I get home today.

Dean:

when we are checking Q Jet carb numbers we look to the driver's side rear where the part number, date code and broadcast code are stamped vertically on a boss. Ironically, 78 L48 4 speed carb numbers are 17058203...note the 203 similarities.

Post what you find and we can interpret for you if unfamiliar. Just remember, a carb is an assembly of parts and what gets called out for that particular application (L48 4 speed) is part number associated with the broadcast code.

The numbers cast into the components are the casting numbers for the component parts and have nothing to do with the carb number or the actual part number for the detail parts.

Thanks everyone,

Along with the advice here and seeing pictures of three other 7043203 carb throttle bodys that look the same as mine (the porting on the front bottom is different than most others I have seen) I'm satisfied that I have the correct throttle body.
