Default Drove a new ZR-1 last night

My friend and sponsor Mike Thermos (Nitrous Supply) bought a new ZR-1 last week. I went over yesterday to look at it and while we were talking Mike asks me "you want to drive it ?" "Hell Ya !!"

I took it for a spin; it is everything advertised. Got a couple of hard 1-2-3 gears in it, very good acceleration, tremendous throttle response and very surprisingly great traction. From a first gear roll when I jumped on it, it did not break traction, just shot forward (traction control ?). It is very docile until you punch it then it comes alive, has a really killer exhaust note and hauls ***.

Handling feels awesome, but not race car stiff. It does not bounce over bumps in the road as much as it absorbs them...almost weird how it feels like it would cut corners like an F-1 car but rides like a Cadillac.

I want one !!

I got to drive a C6 last summer and I have to say that I was super impressed by even a base C6. I can't imaging how the Z06 or even ZR1 would feel compared to it and I hope to someday have a chance to drive one.

I can bet it was great....

if some of the member here have not driven a newer Vette C5 and C6, I suggest you try one, you will be shocked at how our beloved C3's have matured over the years...

I was at one of the local Chevy dealers on Saturday and they has one on the floor that was already sold. It was roped off with "do not touch" signs all over it and a paper temporary tag. I would so want to have that one out on the road if it was mine. I bet taking a spin in one would be a religious experience.

I have never even sat down in a Vette that was newer than a C3

The first time I ever sat in a Vette it was my aunt's 2002 convertible. I probably drove a little too aggressively for my abilities but it was extremely well-mannered and put a wide grin on my face. I have a c3 for the looks and the growl but if I ever save up the money for another toy I would definitely get me a C6.

WOW.... That is awesome. I WANNA DRIVE ??

I have driven C5 Z06's, several C6 LS2s, but Never a C6 ZO6 or a C6 ZR1

Thats great... I can only hope to drive one.

Being that my new daily driver is a C5 Z51 FRC .... all I can say it RIDES way better on the highway and long trip... A/C and good stereo helps also... LOL

But I would NEVER...NEVER .... NEVER give up my C3 !!

It just came to my mind : Will we be talking about 2008 ZR1s after 35 years just like what we are talking now about L88s? ,, I mean Its always interesting to listen to someone who saw a new L88 setting in a showroom back in the days.

I know its a silly note, but its already 3:00 AM here and I half a sleep now, I just finished rebuilding a brake caliber for good 2 hours.
