Durango_Boy Where are my Vortec Heads???
October 22, 2008 I wrote a check for $770 and mailed it to Matt aka Durango_Boy for the purchase of his Vortec aluminum heads. The heads were $750 and the extra $20 was for the temp sender he was going to make for the head.

It is now December and I haven't received anything but empty promises. Shortly after he received my check about October 24 he told me he dropped and damaged a head making it unuseable. He assured me he would have his machine shop make me another set exactly as the ones he damaged. The last email message he said the heads were shipped by his machinist November 20. When I asked for a shipping number he said the shop ships USPS and there was no tracking number and I should receive the heads in 8 days. Well....by my count it is Monday and 11 days have gone by.
Unless by some miracle I get a check in the mail, I will be pursuing legal action to recover my money and related costs from dealing with this loser.
He has other items for sale in the forum and all I can say is buyer beware. He posts plenty of messages, but that can't be a judge of integrity.
If anyone knows this character and can help me recover my cash, I'd be appreciative.

I spoke up in the other thread. This one will probably get locked too.
There has not been a lapse in communication between Mike and I, and he knows that. Come to think of it 3 emails have gone back and forth between Mike and I just today...one because of these very threads.
Public forum bashing is petty, as is accusing someone of scamming them.

A way to put this to bed right now is to overnight his check for $770 back to him tomorrow. If you've already cashed it cut him a cashiers check.
This is why i've never sold anything. Its not worth it. Someone is always dissatisfied for some reason or other.

Good idea, and I will if I need to, but why would I send him the money back when the heads could show up tomorrow. Besides, the money didn't go into my pocket it went into the pockets of the machine shop. I didn't make any profit from this deal...which Mike doesn't tell anyone.

You can't please all of the people all of the time. Thanks for the response Matt I kinda of felt you were all in. Good job. I don't know you (wish I did maybe one day) Just from your posts I could just tell this is your passion not your financial obligation. Rip off is not your MO

Why cut a check if goods are being delivered?
I bought an iPod on eBay some time ago and the USPS took 3 weeks to deliver. Now I ship everything UPS.
I believe it is the shippers responsibility to file a claim with the USPS if it comes to that.

Red 69, I think you jumped the gun on this public flaming. You're upset over 3 days late shipping over Thanksgiving weekend? I really haven't seen anything with excess time involved. I don't know why people think public flaming of vendors and forum members is kosher.
(Matt, you better have sent those heads... )

Unless USPS works on the weekend and holidays it's not really even 8 days yet. I'm betting they show up and an apology is in order

, If the first set got damaged and you agreed to still purchase, Well that may take some time. Longer than you first thought however It's not good to try to give someone a bad name just because you are unhappy. Facts are you haven't gotten ripped off, You stated you wanted a refund after the first issue with the heads. If you did this to me I would be pissed. i am not siding with anyone here.. It just makes me mad that if I sell, give away or help someone on this forum that these kind of threads could come up.

Hmmmm....a $770 item shipped by ANY means should be insured and also have a tracking number. USPS certainly DOES use tracking numbers, as I have mailed and ordered from them several times and had tracking numbers for even the least valuable item. I think it costs all of $1.75 to have a tracking number. And insured items get their own special number for no charge other than the insurance itself.
