Im curious about how high it goes through the hood. I have data from Holley/Weiands homepage, but would like to see pictures before I order the kit.

I no longer have the stock 76 hood, but when I did, the 144 blower had the quadrajet carb barely out the top of the hood... the hood would not close with no air cleaner. I put a bug scoop on and the base of the scoop was barely under the top of the stock hood. Hope this helps you some.

Heres some of old engine.
And heres the new engine and any day now i will have pics of it in the car.
The carb is even with the l88 hood ,its the breather that has to stick through,i dont see any way around not cutting the hood with this blower, but i like it.

Thanks for all the pictures (and info), they look great those blowers
Luerja, saw your pictures in the other thread. That 6-71 blower looks brutal
That engine does look very nice Would like to see pictures when you get it installed. What blower is that?
I dont mind it sticking up through the hood but I still want to be able to see (some of) the road when driving
Im considering an enderle style butterfly blower scoop with a weiand 177.
Hopefully that would lower it some?

Sorry but a 177 sticks up higher then the 144 which is on mine.and on a 144 the air cleaner will at minimum will stick out of the hood ,even with a l88 hood which is 4" high its self.My blower is weiand 144 and just the injector scoop sticks out of the hood, you cannot get it any lower.Again,a 177 sticks up several inches higher then the 144,i think its 4 inches.

I meant I was hoping that the streetcatcher blower scoop would lower it a bit in comparison to a regular scoop. The scoop incases the carburator. But it aint cheap

But if the 177 is too high I might have to go with a 142...

Thanks i have learned..... those who want a supercharger and go with a 142 or 144 will not be happy...... If you thought is a supercharger and you go it a little at time you wil not be happy till you have a 6-71 or above... i have been there and done that. only then you can sleep at night.

Yes that is the stock 73' hood. I figured there would be a good chance that it would fit under an L88 style hood. I would bet it would fit under an aftermarket 4 - 4 1/2" highrise. I considered doing that and keeping it all under the hood so I could drive it rain or shine. You may notice that the hood is cut for a 6-71 that's what I run. I was tempted, but love my 6-71.
The 144 is from my 75' street/mud/trail truck it dynoed at 500hp and 550 trq (400sbc 5.7 rod). I got 14mpg on the highway 12mpg city in the truck. It's a big box with 4.56's, and 35" tires. I figured in the vette it would maybe get 20mpg or so.
