Default ground strap question

the ground wire from block to starter bolt,is it a single wire or narrow braided wire?I'm not talking about main block to frame cable.It's a '71 s/b 4spd

I know nothing about a '71 in particular, but I can't imagine why there would be a ground wire from the block to the starter bolt. After all, the starter bolts straight up to the block, best ground connection you could get.

Here's my 71' SB. The black ground wire comes out of the engine harness and connects to the starter bolt.

The ground wire from the starter mounting bolt (on the engine block) to the motor mount bracket is a #2AWG braided wire. You can buy some wire at a hardware store and solder some lugs on it; or you can buy a new ground strap already made up from many of the Corvette after-market parts suppliers [i.e., lectriclimited.com].
