OK Crossfire Mafia, a ?
Recently picked up an 82CE driver. Looking for more TQ/HP while retaining stock appearance.
I understand the intake is a unique piece, but what about the heads ???
What aftermarket options are there??
Where is the HP limit Xfire can support ???
Please educate me.................

The crossfire can be made to produce 300 horsepower with very little effort.
First thing I would do is fit a true dual exhaust system.
Then I would look into buying one of these.

According to my "corvette black book" the heads are the same 462624 GM used from 78-82, so any aftermarket iron head should work ????
Obviously an Alum head would be a visual give away................

Yes changing the heads will help, dart had a nice set of iron heads that would work nicely. The intake needs to be ported, here's a pic of the stock runner vs. port. You can see how it will chock your heads off.
The swirl plates can be modded as well
As mentioned above a true dual exhaust with so good flowing cats would help too.

I'd go with the DCS manifold just because I'm to lazy to port a intake, but if you like that sort of stuff it's time vs. money. Also depends on your time frame as the renegade isn't available yet

Any Xfire guys running either the heads above or the S/R's?????
If you paired the DCS intake up with some Iron Eagles, which runner would be optimal (165/180/200)??
Also -- no hurry on the intake

The aftermarket head of choice for the CFI seems to be the Dart Iron Eagle 165cc port with 72cc chamber. It keeps the port velocity high so you dont lose low RPM torque, , keeps the compression similar to OEM so you dont screw up the CFI ECM, but has more efficient burn characteristics. Be aware that if you want to use 1.6RRs on these heads, then the heads need some machine work, as stated over on the CFI vault.
Edelbrock has a 165cc port with 72cc chamber also I believe.
Keeping the stock ECM:
-Remove hood flapper for cold air always
-Port your CFI intake or get the Renegade once available
-TBs bushed and enlarged to 2.00 inch. Not 100%sure if you can do this and get away with the stock ECM, but seems some have tried.
-Heads like above stated
-2030 or 2040 cam
-1.6 Roller Rockers
-Dual exhaust
-improved cat or use test pipe
-lower backpressure mufflers
-headers of some type Stan's Tri-Ys or McJacks maybe
-85 fuel pump
-DCS fuel pressure gauge and bump pressures to 13PSI, maybe 14 if your daring
-Remove smog if possible.
Other fun items:
Build up your 700R4 with new stall.
3.07 gears or higher 3.36, 3.54, if your not into fuel mileage.

while browsing my new Corvette Central catalog, i noticed 2 XFire perf mods:
1. 82 Throttle Performance Switch
2. Hypertech Power chip
Any feedback on either ????

Throttle switch gives you a more wide open throttle signal when you not at wide open throttle. This gives you a richer mixture. Net gain = 0 or close to it.
Hypertech give you more throttle signal, possibly a timing adjustment, along with some trans lock-up control delay. Net gain = 0 or close to it, but the delay in lockup supposedly keep you from lugging your motor at lower speeds 25-30MPH ballpark.
Thats my understanding from the years of reading I have done on the CFI subject.

I've installed the Hypertech chip and it made a world of differance in the daily driving. Idles better an seems much smoother. As for performance last fall before installing the chip I was running high 15.30's this spring with about the same weather I'm running low 15.20's and have dropped as low as 15.17 with very good weather. So I would say at least in my case it has helped.
