Default Removing side windows.

I tried to remove my passenger side window glass but I'm not sure about which are the "two sash screws" that the manual is talking about! .. anyone got a photo of these screws???

Any notes/cautions about removing side window glass?

TIA

Maybe this will help. This is the outside of the car.

Yeah that picture would help me a lot. I can see 4 places which the glass is attached to the door, I numbered them from 1 to 4 , which two of these should I remove? .. I know this may sound a dumb question, but the door is one of the places that I have never worked with.

#1 is a plastic bumper or guide you dont need to remove that.
2,3 and 4 I would remove and slide the glass out -- but you can remove only #2 and leave the long track attached to the glass and remove it with the glass-you will have to do some sliding to get the rollers out of the track.
In some situations I havent been able to get 2,3 and 4 to come loose so I have had to remove the track that #2 slides in and remove 2,3 and 4 with the glass and then remove them once the glass was out.

How would I move the glass about 1/4" straight back (to back of car)? No other adjustment needed.

On the forward vertical guide rail at the top of the door will be 4 bolts,2 of them will be slotted forward and backward and 2 will be side to side. Loosen the 2 slotted forward and backward and pry the vertical rail backward. The whole window will follow the vertical rail because of the #2 circled guide. If your front edge of the glass just needs a little tilt to meet the weatherstrip use the short horizontal rail to do that.

Thanks! The top on my convertible is rarely up and the same with the windows. But I got caught in a downpour several weeks ago so there was no choice. The Haartz canvas top seals very well but my wife, in the passenger seat, brought my attention to a minor problem. The back vertical edge of the passenger glass is a consistent ~1/4" shy of the top's vertical weatherstripping. Horizontally at the top it is fine. So it just has to be moved straight back about that 1/4".

So am I be able to slide the glass out by removing the #3 and #4 bolts?, I think in that case I can leave the #2 bolt to "slide" out of the track. Are the #3 and #4 the sash screws the manual is talking about?

Hi H,
#3 and #4 mount the horizontal track to the bottom of the glass. The crank arm rollers run in that track.
I believe that if you remove the 2 upper stops in the vertical tracks you MAY be able to crank the glass high enough to unbolt it from the crank arm track and slide it out. MAYBE. Otherwise you need to unbolt it in the down position and then slide it up out of the vertical tracks by just pulling it upwards.
Regards,
Alan

PS: It's easy to put vertical scratches in the glass.... be careful.

What Alan is describing is how I did it.

Thanks a million Alan .. You are right, I did it successfully. It took me some time (around 2 hours) to remove the glass and replace the plastic rollers/spacers, but most of the time I was wasting by thinking and scratching my head, so if I need to do it again, it may take 30 min. maximum.

The result was astonishing, now the window is very solid, and no annoying viration sound when I close the door.
