Default half shaft question

What, if any, is the difference between a 73 and a 74 half shaft? In catalogs, they change after 73. My 73 has one in it marked 74. Could this be a problem? Length etc. Thanks

Half-Shafts are the same for 1963-1979 (part number 360912).

1980-1981 Automatic Transmissions were the same (part number 14009998).

1980 Manual Transmissions used part number 14009999.

1981 Manual Transmissions and 1982 (all A.T.) used part number 14035651.

The difference in their pics show the diameters are different. The earlier years were smaller diameter but I thought they went larger before 74. Maybe someone else can confirm the year change.

The parts book shows 1968-1975 using a different yoke differential carrier (pn 3872922) than during 1975-1979 (pn 14016436). There is no detail as to size in the "1953 thru 1982 Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog" (Dec 1983 edition).
