Default Corvette Body Mounts ???

I will be replacing the body mounts on my Corvette. What are the best ones to use; rubber or poly? Who sells good ones? I usually get my stuff from Do Rebuild for items like this as many of the bigger companies have supplied me with parts that I do not like.

Hi Chris,
Being a 'stock' guy I have to suggest replacing with the same aluminium mounts your 71 had when new. I'm sure there will be other other suggestions and valid reasons for using the rubber mounts.
Regards,
Alan

My aluminum old mounts were more than half gone,
After seeing that, and knowing how the alumin. mounts ride
I used Poly mounts its really your choice, 69VETT

If you are trying to isolate the body from chassis vibration I would think that the rubber ones , being softer, would do a better job.

The later mounts help eliminate the creaks that some early model owners complain about (which was the purpose w/o hurting handling).

Default Mounts?

I did not realize that the stock mounts were actually Aluminium ....

So who sells mounts that anyone can recommend? Stock is good but I really want to isolate any rattles etc.

Not to hijack the thread, but is is a good idea to install a rubber/poly mounts instead of the aluminums? .. of course other than originality problems.

I have a '71 and those "squeeks" are driving me crazy! .. I really would do anything to get rid of these annoying sounds.

I though about going with poly or rubber on my '69 but was concerned about the possible height differences vs the original alum solid mounts.

For this reason, I decided on using an original '68-'72 alum kit.

Good Luck, Ed

the height differance is app. 1/8" with aluminum, vs Poly.
the height change nothing, except a quick tweak of the steering column.

Default "Squeeks"!

HamadUP; exactly .... there is an annoying squeeks that I NEED to get rid of. So I am thinking a rubber kit would be better.

So, who makes the best kit ... that's the question and it rubber/poly better?
