this is alittle off topic, but at work we have been painting a overhead conveyor. the drift has got white paint specs on every vehicle within a quarter mile and of course everybody wants a new paint job. is there anything that can remove the specs? most of it is primer i am hoping a clay bar might do the trick. suggestions?
I'd farm it out to a detailing shop. It will probably come off with clay, but it may take some 2k grit wet sanding and a buff to get it off. It depends on what type of paint is on the cars, though.
This is common on construction sites where painting contractors are trying to complete their work.
The fall out is bound to happen. Find a typical car that has been caught in the overspray and bring it to several detail shops asking them to quote cleaning up 50+ cars. Set up a PO with one of the shops and post a specific timeframe for people to have there cars cleaned. Unfortunately the project will have to bear the cost of the clean-up so you must limit your exposure with the timeframe.
If there is more painting to be done, post a warning a few days in advance so people can find new places to park.
I had to clean 200 cars on one of my job sites and it gets very expensive. Proceed with caution here.
well i tried a small spot with the clay. it came off but its a bunch of work.
try bug and tar remover(kerosene) or lacquer thinner......the latter should work but paint underneath must be cured and rub it on and then off with a clean rag....no power tools.....
Then they are responsible for their actions and the results, period, end of story, God bless America.
You told them...they forgot or didn't care to take your warnings to heart...now THEY pay the price. I would not lose sleep over it. ANOTHER prime example of the diminishing GENE POOL.
