Default 15x8 Cragars to 16x8 Rallies

Will I have any issues if I go from my current 15x8 Cragar S/S wheels with 4.25" of backspacing and 1/2" spacers to a 16x8 Rally with 4.5" of backspacing if I want them to sit in the same position as the Cragars? I would assume I would need 3/4" spacers for the difference in Backspacing + spacer currently being used but by doing so will I run into problems with the acorn style lugs and my studs not being long enough then? I just want the 16x8's to sit in the same position as the current 15x8's and need to know what I'm getting into before I take the plunge? My plans are to use the 16x8 Rallies and mount some 295/60-16's for the rear, which are slightly taller than the 295/50-15's but the same width.

I just got the 295/50-16 tires and just need to find some wheels and there arent a ton of choices so I was thinking the Rallies would look nice but I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks for any help

Yes but I dont know when that will be yet.... The set-up I have now is 15x8 Cragars with 4.25" of BS on all 4 corners with 275/60-15's in the rear and 255/60-15's in the front.

The sooner I find wheels that I can get to work with the new tires, the sooner I will have my current set-up for sale

Do you have any tire rubbing with those spacers?

Tires and wheels just arrived, just need to have them mounted now to see how they fit.. Tires are 28x12-16.. Wheels are 16x8 "chrome" Rallies.. I was thinking of going with chrome baby moons for the center caps.

I like the lower profile tires you have, it makes the rims look even taller.. I'm going with 15" in the front so it will have the old school look. The tires in my photo are the largest BFG T/A's they make.

Fronts are 275/40x17 and rear is 285/40x17. Still too small for the rear, but the widest tire I could properly get on a 9" wide wheel. Goodyear Eagle F1-GS/D3's

They are 295/50-16"

The 295/50-15, which most use are 26.7" tall and the 295/50-16 is 28" tall but they are both the same width.. I thought is was kinda strange that just the wheel size made such a difference in over-all tire height. I personally like the 28" tall tires because it fills the wheel well better.

There, now it doesnt look so naked in the back
Just need to get the matching fronts and the baby moon lug covers so I can take a picture from the side too.

To give you an idea of the size of these rear tires, the fronts are 255/60-15

Default Wheel Size and modifications

I have a C3 1979 Corvette. I want to replace the stock wheels which measures 15" x 8" with a back step 4" which is currently installed on the car. I would like to go to 16" x 8" by 4.25" back step. Notice you used tire size 295/50-16 tires B.F.Goodrich are they the same size tire and wheels front and rear? If so what modifications did you have to do on the rear trailing arms for the parking cables mounts? and does the tire stick out of the wheel well at all? Wheels that are going to be ordered are American Racing Custom Torq II vintage style. Please respond by email to stealth799@gmail.com my tech wants to know the info as well.

Thanks

George

That is possibly the most aggressive stance I have seen yet on a streetable C3. I love it!

As long as the American Racing Custom Torq II's clear the caliper without spacers, your wheels will sit in the same position as mine because I have 4.50" of BS but I used a .250" shim to clear the stock trailing arm.. However, you will need to cut-off and relocate your parking brake bracket like I did... The rear tires are perfectly flush with the outside of the fenders..

The front tires in the above pictures are still the Cragars with 4.25" of BS and 1/2" spacers and 255/60-15 BFG tires.. My new front skinnies should be here next week and I'll post a picture after they are installed.

Thank you!!

I dont think it would be worth it unless you picked them up and I live in Northern Michigan, in the middle of know where

I just dont want to go through the trouble of shipping them and I'm sure it would cost a fortune anyways.

$600 if anyone wants my Cragars and BFG's and that includes the lugs.. Tires and wheels are all like new..
