Default I used a Mark VIII fan and DC Control

Works like a dream. But I do like that Ford Focus dual fan arrangement that Sharkinthewoods has.

here's link with bunches of pictures

Tell you this, I bought the kit with the dual Spals from DeWitts and I've talked to Spal and DeWitts about why the only time they will come on is when I jump a wire from the end of the thermostatic switch to ground. The problem appears to be unsolvable, I even bought a new thermostatic switch, no help. At this point they either don't run at all or they run all the time. When they are on, the engine runs cool all right. Sure would be nice if they worked right. You can chronicle my efforts in my other post:

Mighty expensive upgrade to have everyone stumped on the reasons for malfunction. Answer probably hiding in plain sight, but no one can see it so far.

I did the Focus fans too. Did not build a shroud. Just made mounts for it. Works great.

What year was the focus? Do you have pics of the install? I am interested too. What about wiring? Can you list what you had to source and how you wired it up? Do both fans run all the time? How is it set up?

Thanks
Bill

Go on ebay. There is a a couple of guys selling new 3.8 Taurus fans for $76 including the shipping. They fit and work great.

I am using a dual fan setup from a 97 Camaro. Fit pretty well and was cheap. I am also using fuel injection, so the computer controlls the fans in two speeds.

Low temps or freeway speeds, fans off.
As it heats up, slow fans kick on.
Heats up more and fast fans kick on.

I picked up the fans for $100, relays for about $30. I already had the wire laying around and since it is controlled by the PCM, it just used the stock LS1 temp sender. You would need two temp sensors for the dual speed setup if you were doing it yourself.

I also have a manual override switch under the dash, so I can turn the fans on manually anytime I want.

I have thought of a simple DTDT relay and maybe a SPDT relay hooked up to have one sensor turn on the fans running in series with each other, and if needed run in parallel then by pulling in the DPDT relay.... each fan would draw only 1/2 the voltage and make 1/4 the power/air volume movement, but still maybe enough, then switch to high for a/c or temps....

Thats how my setup works. Slow is in series, fast is in parallel. Uses 3 relays.

I found a set of dual spal setup for $130 on CL. Dual 11", shroud, both harness, both relays and the temp switch. All brandnew :-)

I am needing pics of duals on a stock 1968 radiator. Can anyone post pix of their setup?
