Default anybody know anything about the racing history of this C3?

I had a training class for work - at Bandag retreads in Muscatine, Iowa.

They had this car sitting in their lobby. They said it was the only car that ever won a race on retreads! There might be more to the story, but it looked like a pretty hardcore racecar - stripped interior, big cubes, gauges tilted so the redzones were at 12 o'clock.

The only reference I could find was THIS, and acrording to this it's highest finish was 7th at the Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota, Round 7 of the Pepsi SCCA Trans-American Championship.

I found this on a webpage

Denny Long drove for John Greenwood in 1971, then he purchased one of his cars, and started entering it for himself. The car was efficient, and it evolved with time. It then became the Bandag Corvette, which was entered until the 1976 season.

also found this

I believe it was the 50 car

Default Bandag Corvette

Denny Long purchased the #48 car from John Greenwood in January, 1972. Greenwood had several #48's but this was the car he drove to win his 2 SCCA Runoffs victories in 1970 & 1971.

Awesome- love this for several reasons - I met Denny Long about 10 years ago doing track days around Nashville doing track days with the Porsche club. then last summer I became Bandag's lawyer and then in November of last year I bought a C5 Z06 as my new track car. I need to get up to Muscatine soon and check it out in person!

billylaotian, did you ever get to Bandag's Training Center, Muscatine?
I use to work for Bandag. Was trying to find the #22 Bandag Denny Long L88 Corvette after Jerry Winston restored it and then sold it.
I have the three photos of the #22 Bandag Denny Long L88 Corvette that were hanging in Bandag's Corporate HQ way back then in my Corvette memorabilia collection.
Thanks
