Nope - the core just had an "un-retained" front seal, and there were no leaks there. And I'm a little surprised myself that the seal kit made no mention of this tendency to blow front seals nor came with a retainer when the individual front seal actually came with a warning label...

The vacuum switch you are looking for is psf109s-9-80.

adjustable between 9 and 80 inches H2O, with deadband, 10 amp contacts and standard terminal connections.

You should be able to get this at a overdrive transmission shop.

looks like around $40.00

I may have to pull my 200 out, when I do, I'll add that retainer, it doesn't have one now. The trans has a small vibration at about 2000 rpm, but only in 2-4 gears. It gets worse in 3rd and 4th, and again when I lock up the converter. It's not real bad, but it bugs me, and it shouldn't be there, and it's only under light or part throttle. Under WOT, no issues. I'm running synthetic trans fluid and a friend told me that may be the issue. Any of you heard of such a thing??

Hmm - not sure what your problem might be. Worn clutch packs? Is there any slipping, or just vibration? I had a real doozy of a vibration before I tore into mine, and it turned out to be a bad u-joint on the driveshaft...

I rebuilt the thing this past summer, (my first effort with an automatic) and put it behind the small block that was in the car. It worked great, I just didn't like the converter in it. When I pulled the small block, I thought I'd open up the trans to check it out since it was my first build. Everything looked great. When I put the big block in the car, that's when I noticed the vibration between about 1700 to 2100 rpm. Before and after that, smooth as silk. I still hated the converter, and I thought that might be the problem, so I pulled the trans and put a better converter in it. The vibration isn't as bad, but it's still there. It doesn't do it in park, does it a bit in neutral, and gets more pornounced in 4th. It's rpm specific, not speed specific, so it has to be from the dampner to the tail shaft. And since it doesn't do it in park, to me that says it has to be in the trans. I just hate the thought of pulling it again, but I don't think I have much choice. But hey, I could put the seal retainer in then!!! LOL

Default 200r4

I see people saying things about 4th gear ?
I thought the 200R4 is a three speed trans,along with a converter
that locks up ( in 3rd gear ) which lowers engine speed approximately 500 RPMs

From what I understand if the TV cable is not adjusted propertly then
the trans will have a considerable shorter life span

I have what is supposed to be a trans from an 1982 corvette along with
the converter that if I remember correctly only had around 20000 miles
when it was pulled. might be wlling to sell it ?

Nope. The 2004R is a 4 speed automatic transmission, with a lockup torque converter. The 4th gear is the overdrive, if I remember correctly it's a .067:1 ratio OD. The TH350 that was in the 81's, is a 3 speed with a lock up.

Got the front seal replaced again, this time with a dose of Loctite and the retainer clip installed, as well as going into the pump housing and enlarging a drain back hole on the cover to help blow off some of the pressure. So far, no leaks. I need to get the TV set and the rockers adjusted before I go out on the street again. I'm just glad the engine and trans have decided to keep their fluids to themselves...
