Hi avalonjon
I have them on both of my 70's. There should be one per headlight assy. In other words there's two fluid hoses coming from the W/S wiper pump and one hose going to each headlight assy. The checkvalve or backflow valve some call it is the Tee then a short hose from each end goes the the headlight washer nozzel.
Do they still work?
I'm under the car this evening and can take a picture if you need me to.

Hi John-

If you are talking about the coils, there is only one on the 1969 cars. It has an actuator valve that pass's through it and this is what pumps the water to the headlamp washer.

I think this is what you are talking about. You can see a close up of the coil and the smaller picture will show you the valve and coil. There is only one assembly per car.

Guys.. 69 was different than 1970. 1970 headlamp washers were part of the special 5 port washer pump... In 69 it was controlled by the assembly pictured above.

Fellas 69 and 70 are different. I’ll look for the blueprints. (NONE FOR SALE.)

GM 4919503 = 69 uses a black plastic tee fitting with a check valve right inside the tee. The 69 use one by the drivers side headlamp bucket. Some 69 use another near the wiper motor.

GM 4919991 = 70-71 uses a different black plastic tee fitting with a check valve right inside the tee. There are one of these near each headlamp bucket.

They help prevent the headlamp washer hoses from running dry between uses.

Thanks for all the responses here. I only found one on my 69 and found these 2 extra in my parts stash. Here's a picture...does the 69 have 1 or 2?

Does anyone make a reproduction of this check valve? I have been looking for a couple without success.
