I have a new engine for my 68. Is it a big pain to unbolt the transmission at the bell housing and take the engine, bell housing and clutch out in one piece, leaving the transmission in the car?
Thanks, 68 Vetteman

Just take the whole assembly out as one. You can do it the other way by leaving the trans in but putting the motor back in this way is a bigger pain. I have removed lots of motors and done it many ways. For the novice it iseasiest to take the whole assembly out as one.

Take the entire thing out, it'll be a lot easier.

I just finished removing just the engine in my 1981 and leaving the transmission alone...all because I didnt wanna remove the hood.

Now many months later, I've removed the transmission and the hood.....

So now I say, remove both...if you're gonna do it, go all the way!

PS- notice the engine stand coming in from the side with the wheel removed. Also notice I had to rotate the engine to clear the hood....definately a two person job!

Thanks for the help. I was going to remove the hood but was unsure of the weight of the engine and trans together on the hoist coming in from the front. I'll shorten the hoist and come in from the side. Thanks
