Default Ford\Cosworth DFV 3 liter dyno run (Short)

We just got this back together here at work and installed it on the dyno.

This is just 3000cc 4 cams 4 valve V-8. This is a break in base line run before we optimize the timing and fuel. So it was only run up to just under 10,000 rpm.

I've learned so much working here at the race shop. We assemble these engines in clean rooms. It is a little tension going when they are $70,000 motors that you have put so many hours into rebuilding after the blow up last fall during a race.

After watching and listening I think I have a little better understanding of what you mean by tension!

My buddy has built thousands of motor and still gets butterflies putting a new one on the dyno and letting it rip, especially when the customer is there

No the Shadow is a 500+ inch injected big block. This 180 injected ci only produced @480 hp@ 10,500 rpm.

Yes we have done the Mooseport a few times

Close to you is the Wine country Classic at Infinion in June. The boss and his 3 liter won over a fine field and the Shadow last year.

You make it to Reno and I will show you around the shop

Hans, this is the start of the Sunday race with my boss the number one qualifier in this 3 liter cosworth. He led pole to pole and got the trophy for the most impressive team and performance. The Shadow is like 6th. The Shadow had brake problems that never really got sorted out in time. We changed to the same compound the boss uses on the his Lola T-286. you need to do some track testing before race weekend.

2009 Laguna Seca. The boss going for another pole to pole win in his 3 liter Lola T-286 "Macumba". This must be qualifying because the brake ducts are taped over. He does a couple of hot laps to get some heat in them and then he pulls into to the hot pits where we remove the tape and he goes back out for his qual timings.

I know George. Enviable job??????? He said something to me at a race track once: "You see all those crowds and picture takers walking by?" "They think that this is all fun and games." "They don't see the hundreds upon hundreds of man hours required to take 10 as perfect cars as you can to a race." The burns, the cuts, the long hours, the travel time, and the pressure. Only to pack up and go home and prepare for a couple of weeks until the next racing event.

But on the flip side.........I know that he would never work as a flat rate mechanic at some Ferrari or chevy dealership.
