Whilst I've seen this subject hammered out on Torque Thrust wheels, I've always liked Cragar SS's, and have seen them on a few C3's in magazines which look good. I currently have some slightly rusty Appliance spoked wheels with lower-profile-than-standard tyres aboard, which all need to be replaced. I think I'll go to standard size tyres on 8" rims, but the big question is, -will I need spacers, and what back-spacing should I order. Also, does anyone know of a Cragar dealer here in the UK.
Cheers, Rob.
rob, I have always liked the Crager SS, I guess it shows my age, anyway- have you checked out the 17" version ??? they are way cool. I would love to get a set for mine.  Rick
Yes, you need spacers made by Cragar for the Cragar SS wheels, also the lug nuts are longer they go through the wheel and part way through the spacer.
My wheels are 15" x 8" I think they are 3.5" backspacing but I'm not sure, I bought them back in 1977.
I like the new S/S series but Cragar's site is pathetic! There couldn't be less information if they tried. They are definitely at the back of the pack as far as their web presence.
I have them on my '71 454 Stingray...to say they look good is a gross undersatement. There are BF Goodrich Comp T/A Radials on them, 23560R15 for the front and 25560R15 for the back. I bought the car with them already installed. To be honest, it was a selling point.
Yes, you will need spacers. Not to talk down to you but be VERY careful when installing them yourself. The spacers are easily misaligned and will give you a false feeling of a tight lug nut when in actuality, it's bottomed out on a misaligned spacer. This could give disastrous results.
Good luck and enjoy the stares!

I used to have Cragar S/S 15x8 and 15x10 on my 1979 when I was in college. the backspacing was 3 1/2 front and 4 1/2 in the rear. It looked real fine.
