Default Air Gap Intake (sbc)

This post is for a sbc 350/383/400. I am researching the non rpm Performer Air Gap intake. Does all the accelerator, trans, cruise ect, hook up or are there mods? If its a pain I'll stick with the Performer. Just looking for a change maybe some extra ponies.

It will be like the Performer about 1/4" taller so everything should fit fine w/ Q-J. Even the stock air cleaner should fit w/o any spacers.

Default Air Gap

Does anyone have an Performer Air Gap? What engine is it on, what horsepower range, can it pull hard to red line? Any other info appreciated.

IMHO RPM Air Gap is the best hands down over any other dual plane including most single planes. I did a side by side test and the RPM Air gap lost 2-3 ponies at 6000RPM but holds it's own up till there

Check out the Weiand Air Strike dual plane intake, I like it because the vacuum port for the tranny and vac advance is further out on the intake runner and you can run a Holley without many modifications. I am running this on a mild 383 and it pulls like a big block to 6500

Default I have the Performer A/G.

Works fine on my lo-po GoodWrench 350" effort but sorry my red line is short/rev limter low and don't have any comparision data to help u. BTW how do u know what your redline is before u install the engine?? No surging or stuble though. I didn't want the Edle RPM for my modest sb effort - maybe a 383 could gain some with an RPM A/G? No hood issues with mine and the polished one looks great with just chrome vlv covers - while i do have the polished Edle water pump too. I don't have cruise control but the Qjet accelerator fit up was unaffected and the coil is in the normal location. No vacuum line routing problems. I have manual trans so don't know what parts of an auto hook up to the manifold.

Now i did look over quite a few intakes when i was shopping for one and i do have a Weiand and also a stock GM ZZ4 intake sitting on the shelf. But i like the layout of floor under the carb and the runners on my Edle A/G - no EGR holes to collect fuel in, looks good inside and out, also fits great.

But really intakes are cheap and just a day job to swap - try a few to find one u like once u do get the stroker in and running. I would use the most modest carb and intake to break in a new motor (meaning a carb known to work) then upgrade after any issues are resolved on break in.

Good luck,
cardo0
