Getting into this barnfind 73..Got a new battery to see how the motor would turn over, you know, just listening for noises that go bump... Anyway, I'm sitting half in the car with my right foot on the clutch and cranked the motor for about 10-15 sec's and IT FIRES!!! Keep in mind I haven't hit the accelerator and this car has been sitting for at least 6 years!

Anyway, went to tune it and the dwell was at 20degrees. Pulled the cap to see why the allen wrench wouldnt catch and this is what I found (the ring is loose cause I took the rotor off)



I need help to ID this electronic module...AND why the 20 deg dwell? Is it something I should live with (there are no adjusting slots that I can see) and just work the timing? Also, the vacum advance doesnt kick in till 9in of vacum. Is that OK?

Looks like a Pertronix.No dwell to read or adjust,if the car runs,all is good,just set your inital timing and move on to the next stage of your project.

The Petronix module in my Vette is # 38x-v4 and it gives 34* dwell, your module may be for some other model.
