Well it's time for a replacement.
I just touched it and it came apart where I touched.
After 33 years it like mush.
Would have ruined a new carpet back piece for sure.
I didn't even know the hose ran INSIDE the vette.
Got one on order.
Actually replacing those isn't that trivial... You'll have to drill out some rivets, and I have no idea how to get to them with a drill. In my case, the rivets and the plate they hold were rust rotten, and I was able to simply pry the plate out. And I didn't replace the rivets nor the plate; I found a PVC fitting of appropriate size at Home Depot, attached that fitting to the wheel well, and clamped the hose to the fitting. Not correct, but it will be a lot easier to replace the hose in the future... What the hell were they thinking when they came up with the idea of riveting the hose? :mad
I recently did this job and it is really pretty easy. do not take the bubba route. Pull the rear wheel and drill the old rivets from the wheel well. an 90 degree angle attachment for the drill chuck makes it easier. You will also want to replace the seals on the chamber (two metal plates attached with screws and silled with a gasket). The gasket gets old and will leak.

Thanks Pete.
I ordered the hose and the stainless steel plates.
Hopefully the gaskets will come with the plates.
The gaskets are not included with the drain tubes. There are two types of gaskets. One for A/C cars and one for cars without A/C. to see what I am talking about, you have to lie on your back and look at the inside area of the rear deck above your window tray. the gaskets stick to the plates that are held in place with screws to the vent chamber on the A/C cars.
I have to disagree with the use of the word Bubba here. Either you choose to jack up the car, remove the wheels and drill rivets with a 90-degree adapter every time you have to replace some cheap rubber hoses, or you do that by simply unscrewing a clamp... The latter is called "improvement", and not "Bubbaization"! ;)
