Default Astro Ventilation/Window alignment questions

I was working on my buddies 76 Vette. We replaced all the weatherstriping.

I had a major problem getting the passenger side window to line up. I understand how to adjust the window all different ways, but when the front lined up perfectly and the top front corner lined up, the top of the glass angled down as it went toward the back of the car, leaving a 1/4" gap at the back between the glass and the weatherstriping. Someone else had this problem apparently, because the channel that the weather stripping sits that is attached to the T-top was spaced on a angle to match the top of the glass. The drivers side lined up very nice.

Now I dont know much history of the car, but it was repainted, and when I did the heater car, I noticed screws missing and broken clips. Nothing to worry about, but enough to know the car has been messed with and worked on in the past and it is not all original. I also noticed that both doors lined up perfectly on the front edge, and on the back the upper half of the door line up perfect, but from the body crease down on the rear of the doors only, the door stuck out further than the body.

Now my questions. I noticed on the passenger side window it was marked "Astro Ventilation". I thought 75 was the last year for Astro Ventilation. Is that correct? So am I safe to asume at least the passenger side window, or possibly the whole door have been replaced? If so, is there any difference between the 76 window glass and the 75 and earlier "Astro Ventilation" glass? Could that be why it wont line up?

Default window

crank both windows full up with doors open.Make a cardboard pattern of the driver glass and check it with astro glass. This should verify if glass is the same or maybe cocked in the track. John

Yes.

No, other than the Astro Ventilation scripts and possibly the tint.

Have you check the fit of the top? I'm wondering if it might be sitting a little high on the rear corner.

Ok thanks I was not sure if the galss was different.

I did check the tops carefully, and actually the top is sitting a little low on that side in the rear. The front looks ok. I did not adjust the top up at all to get it flush with the body because that would have opened up the gap even more. Not much though, it is only about 1/32" low.

I will have to look at it again. I did notice the glass tint was different. I spent about 3 hours adjusting just that side glass and could not get it right. The gap on the bottom of the back of the door still makes me wonder.

Check the thickness. I bought some supposedly OEM windows that were thinner than my originals (71 coupe)
