And I was wondering if I should swap the gear from my stock unit. I've heard a lot of rumblings about problems with non-GM gears. Cam is stock.

I have seen those in my shop before not a very good dist. IMO, I think you will find its a chinese peice. Sometimes you can't chnage to a GM gear because the pin hole is metric!!!
MSD has some nice stuff but it cost more but its a ton better.
I've had this MSD distributor in my 75 for the past 6 years with no problems. Grant you, I don't race the Vette...it's a boulevard cruiser. But when I need to accelerate QUICKLY (getting on the interstate), it performs perfectly.

Glad you mentioned that before I knocked it out. Upon closer inspection the pin hole is most certainly a different size than the stocker.
I appreciate the advice, but I'm going to stick with this unit. Construction (at least externally) appears to be very good, and Summit warantees it for a year anyway. We shall see!
