I basically never put the t tops in for the occasional use of the car and I keep two small zippered bags in the back shelf area for the misc. things you carry in the car. I do have a Masterlock four hook bar for the steering wheel to keep casual thiefs more honest but what do the rest of you do with the misc. things that are behind the seats when you are in a store for fifteen minutes, etc? Obviously no electronics or cell phones left in, wallets, etc. but I'd hate to have to replace the practical items in the one bag and the other one is red to match my Vette.
just curious really what others do.
Thanks for sharing.
Being 6'4" has it's drawbacks like not putting the t tops in because I have to scrunch to drive.
I don't do this, it's just an idea, so if it turns out to be impracticle, don't blame me, ok?
In the back of my 1980 'vette there are 3 attachment points for a strap that is used for holding stuff down so it won't roll around. If your car has 'em, too, I guess you could loop a cable thru one of them, run it thru the handles of the bags, and put a lock on it; I am sure this would discourage casual thieves.
One thing I have done is hide things in the jack storage space. There's more room than ya think down there.
I just hope for the best and make sure nothing that I will miss much stays in the Vette while I'm driving it especially the 70 roadster. I do carry a small tool pouch and other items in the storage compartment along. There is a high dollar amp hidden below in the jack compartment but car has radio delete plate so I figure idiots just look and move onward.

I have the noisy siren for the motion sensor on my clifford allarm set up.. so if someone gets to close to the car it sends off warning beeps.. it also has a pager system so i know someone is messing with the car..
I keep a bag in the back and a gimballed radio and four speakers. The bag has my four ROK straps for the luggage rack..fantastic by the way. We have to carry registration papers in Va. so I put them in a baggie in the middle compartment which the gimballed radio is on top of...quick connects to battery and speakers. Easier than replacing dead one in panel and with remote control, easy to use, modern. I think just limiting what's in there and a towel with color to match will be my plan and not leave it alone too long.
I find the C3 Corvette to be very unique car. I do not believe many thieves will be stalking out a C3. The car draws too much attention. I don't even lock the doors anymore. If I am in an area where it will be all night long outside, ie hotel, I put on the tops but that is it. At the restauant, ie Red Lobster and such, I like leaving the tops off and usually park in front. We always get many compliments on the car. I believe people just walking by and looking at it keeps thievs away. Like I said, a C3 draws much attention, much easier to steal somthing from a Toyota camry. lol I don't like alarms going off, especially at a restaurant, 99.9% of time false alarm, and just annoying. Al...I think you are right. I take it to the store and people stop, look, talk, want to know about it and always compliment it. I tell them she just had her 35th birthday and they sometimes just look befuddled 'cause she looks nicer than the car they drove up in which is 2 years old!
They are hard not to notice. I took it on the Jamestown Ferry one day and it ended up being parked behind a 3/4 ton pickup with dual rear wheels. I took photos and when you later look at the photo you see how low, how sleek and almost in motion they are all the time. This spring I'm doing a formal shoot for a friend when it warms up of his restored '65 and we will do some of the cars together. One of the sites is a public park with trees, grass, volleyball court, etc. Another is right by the James River and the last is a truck terminal where we can put his car right next to an 18wheeler hooked up to a trailer. It makes the one look like an elephant and the other look like a Cheetah! The visual comparison says or emphasizes everything.
I'm going to do what you do more or less and just have a matching color towel to toss over anything I do have in the back that's loose.
I just remembered, my 81 has a pull out cover for the storage area, I hardly ever use but it is there. I do not know if prior years had this option or not. As for getting noticed, When my wife and I go for a drive, I in the C3 and she in the Cobra Mustang. I always get more compliments. Even though hers is much newer and alot faster. The C3 is just so damn sexy. Al
