I need to replace one of my lower rear shock/strut mounts due to corrosion on the shock mounting surface. I've see that these appear to be discontinued from GM and at least two companies are manufactring them as aftermarket, one domestic US and one imported.
The original ones appear to be forged with hardened surfaces for the shock and strut mounts.
Does anyone have these aftermarket ones on their car? Are they re-engineered and equivalent/superior or should I just grab a used OEM one at the next swap meet?
I did mine about three years ago. At that time my local Chevy dealer could still get the shock mount bolts from GM, but they were $119 each. I used the aftermarket $39.95 bolts and they worked fine.
