With the test saying you're missing EGR, and the NOx being so low, I have little doubt that the car is running very rich. It sounds like you need to reconnect quite a number of emissions devices (EGR, AIR, and some others), tune the carburetor and quite possibly rejuvenate your ignition system.

Looks like you're missing an egr valve, some or all your smog pump parts are missing, your fuel tank system isn't holding pressure/vacuum and your thermostatic air cleaner vacuum lines are either disconnected or installed wrong. You're either gonna have to spend a bunch of money for repairs, ask for a hand out on the forum, or if you're in Cal, go for some state assistance (fill out the form, uop to $500.00 is available, based on income.)Assuming you're in Ca, get a non-op and start tackling it...

Where in Cali do you live. I own a 78 that has all the original smog equipment. I'm near Sacramento if you want to stop by and see what yours is suppose to look like.

Not the original owner, Found where the egr suppose to go. Its missing along with something else next to it i beleive.
Previous owner decided to invent his own way on fixing it by the looks of it.

You should buy a copy of the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) for your year. Willcox sells a nice one on CD that is searchable. That will tell you what you are missing in the engine compartment and what hoses may have been disconnected. Make sure your catalytic converter is in place in the exhaust system also.

Willcox is having a Spring sale so you might be able to save a few $. Check ebay also. They sometimes sell things there for better prices than you can find on the website.

The 'AIM' is an assembly manual...not a problem solving tool. But, it will show you what equipment was installed on your car and where it should be located. For trouble shooting/diagnostics/design issues, the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual is the appropriate 'tool'.

The AIM shows how the car was assembled at the factory. The Service Manual/Shop Manual is what the mechanics used to solve issues.

When did you get your Corvette? If your not the previous owner then in California the person selling the car has the responsibility to get the car smog checked prior to the sale in order to remove this type of problem being passed to the new owner. Not exactly word for word in the DMV but that is the intent of the law.

Also looking for 2 thermostatic vacuum switches on the intake.
The AIM won't help for repairs on the ac, just what parts you should have.
