Can I dig up this topic? I have an option on some decent C5 wheels; 17" front, 18" rear.

I'd like to understand all that comes with using adapters, so here goes: Why would I need to replace the studs when using adapters, but not when using, say, aftermarket TTII's ?

Coming from a C5 guy, those chrome wagon wheels look great on your '75. Very good choice.

Have a good one!!

I read an old article involving wheel spacers. I'm putting some C6 wheels on my C3, and the rears will require a 3" spacer. How did yours work out for you, and how long did you run them??

Thanks!

Looks like it's been a while so let's try to revive this thread again. sorry but I'm a new Corvette owner and I got a hold of some C5 rims at a really good price. I've got my 3 inch adapters the rims are the 17 fronts 18 rears. decent 3 inch aluminum adapters from Amazon, problem is I seem to have about 1/16 of an inch of space between the rim and the adapter and I wanted to get a little advice. should I get a small spacer to put behind ,should I trim the edge of the adapter down or maybe an option that I haven't thought of I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. 1979 L3, 3 inch adapter. I'll add a photo is soon as I can figure out how

That definitely doesn't look correct. The taper on the center hub looks like the cause

Yeah idk. Here is a photo of the inside of the hub with the rim on. The hub flange is flush against the rim. Hard to see in the photo. I guess i figure it out eventually.

the most important thing is use concentric adapters.
these are 2.5" adapters all 4 corners.

that adapter design/configuration with the radius is stopping the wheel from seating properly.
Do not use that, I would definitely return, and get adapters that do not have that radius present.

Those don't have the correct bore size.

Stock is a 70.3 hub diameter. You may need a custom adapter to work with the wheel your using.

I know it has been years for this thread, but it came up in wheel spacer and adapter searches.

If other folks are looking for spacer/adapter sizing for various generation Corvette wheel fit on C3s, I posted some helpful technical documents and a visual calculator link at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1604241234
