Powerhouse Engine Parts What do you guys think?
I'm sure this has been discussed before. But here goes it anyway.
I have my engine apart. I have the Powerhouse catalogue. What's the deal with their parts? Have any of you used them? Are they any good? Can I trust their balancing? Should I stick with Summit, PAW or one of the others?
Thanks in advance...

Powerhouse is really, really cheap. I would put them at least 20% less than Summit, but with balanced kits. They have one engine kit with everything, hypereutectic pistons, moly rings, cast crank, rods, harmonic balancer, gaskets, timing chain, bearings, balanced, for $499. They've been used by HotRod, PHR, and Super Chevy, and they are endorsed by them as having great, affordable kits. I just wonder where the catch is. I'd like to talk to someone on the forum, who's used them.
Their website is: http://www.enginekits.com/383stroker.html
I'm always afraid that I'm going to get what I pay for.

I see what you are saying about being to good to be true. Wonder if rods are new, never heard of CR rods. Also, the compression is too high for street use with the 64 cc heads, 10.8 to 1, wonder if you can get a lower set like 10 to 1. I will follow this post since I need to rebuild my 383 and for those prices, might as well buy brand new

They have been touted by the magazines. So I'm inclined to use them. But still, I have some real fear. If I do use them (who am I kidding? I'll use them), I'll report back my findings...

I would be very carefull like you always hear you only get what you pay for, I'm not saying this is going to happen but all the time and energy and money spent removing and replacing a motor and it blows up because of one cheap part and you have to do it all o ver again only this time you don't use cheap parts, now it costs you the price of the new good parts the old parts and two engine buildups
Jeeshe that was all one sentence. :D
