Default Anyone FIX a broken 79 seat bottom ?

I have a 79 with a broken driver seat bottom. The fiberglass bottom pan is COMPLETELY cracked on the inside all the way through the area where the rail bolts on. This causes the seat back to twist when you have weight in the seat. Has anyone had luck fixing this kind of issue? I thought what I would do is BOND metal on the inside to hold the seat togeather and then fiberglass the crack. Does that sound like it would work? A used seat bottom pan is $300 so thats out.

Any other way to proceed ? I do need it to be safe.

I chucked a 1/2 shaft not long ago that beat my battery box to shet. My fix was to rivit metal as a reinforcement and then glass over it. Worked pretty well so far.

I repaired mine years ago. I ground the fiberglass down to thin and roughen it, then laminated on a bunch of fresh fiberglass mat and resin. The metal really doesn't help. Its been holding for about twenty years now.

One of mine is also broken. It was broken when zi purchased the car. I switched it to the passenger side since I have few passengers. It still bothers me that I know it is broke. I refuse to spend $300 on a peice of plastic. GM restoration parts probaply supplies toose to Eckler and others and the mark up the price even further. The prices of interior parts for this generation of corvette especially the for the 78-82 parts are just beyond silly. I'm looking for some Fiero seats I already have the bolt on brackets I just need the seats.
