Sure doesn't look like my 76....or anything resembling a vette - certainly not something I think should be referred to as "Corvette"!.

Well - the seller probably thinks that referring to the car as "Corvette" will increase the value

What a dork that seller is. Why would he/she referred to it as a Corvette when it's clearly a beefed up Monza, like it states in the second line of the add:

"DeKon Monza Vintage Race Car".

I bought on new in '77 and still have it. Had 83k miles on it when the fuel pump died in '86 and I parked it. They were an up scale Vega with many interchangeable parts. Engine choices were the Vega four, a Buick V6 and a Chevy V6 and different V8's depending on year and where sold. It was first designed to take the GM Wankel engine that was cancelled after the car was designed. The first V8 Monzas were a 262 except for Kalifornia which got a 350 in '75, moving to 305s across the board in '76. My '77 had the Mirage package which was a IMSA style body kit installed by Automotive Concepts and sold by GM through the dealer network. In '78 Car And Driver magazine did an aritcle called Double the Double Nickel (as I recall) and the top speed from the factory was tested at something like 124 MHP with the 305 engine. They were fun cars but badly underbraked, many times after having fun canyon carving, at night my front rotors would be GLOWING red at night. Mine is on my "to restore list" along with several other cars...('73 Buck Centerion vert 455-4 bought new by wife, '57 Imperial 392 Hemi 30K miles needs interior and electrical and trim).
