The '66-'82 Shop Manual says 30 lb-ft for the Flywheel Housing. It also says a 4-speed transmission case to clutch housing is 52 lb-ft. Why they don't call it the same thing, I don't know.

That's what it says in the specifications section, page 15-13 under Four Speed Warner...

Reread your post...the 30 lb-ft is for the flywheel housing to engine...

The 52 is tranny to housing, what your looking for.

does it list anything different for a muncie?

im not saying i dont believe you. that spec just seems like its asking for trouble when dealing with aluminum threads.

Those torque values are for the transmission itself:
Front bearing retainer, side cover, tailhousing and bearing plate...

Bellhousing to engine block torque is not that critical,I have never used a torque wrench for it on any vehicle, but it feels like 45ish ft/lbs should be plenty...

My Chilton's manual says torque to 40-50 ft lbs.
