Default Got's to show off a little

Hey all, I finally got my topend upgrade complete and figured
I should show it off a little here, since Ol' Irene precludes me going out and showing it off locally.

I have sold most of my old parts through the "parts for sale"...thanks to all who responded and purchased!

Bottom End is 383 with Scat forged crank and rods, Comp XE268H Cam.

Removed: Holley 4175, Edelbrock 2101 Performer, GM Iron 882 heads.

Added: RHS PRo-Action aluminum heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM, and Holley 750 Ultra DP.

Got it all on and idle tuned. Hopefully Irene will be gone by tomorrow
and I can get her out. New fuel line with aluminum tubing and AN
connectors will be a winter project, since my bubba fuel line does not
meet the astatic requirements! It doesn't leak tho!

Thanks for viewing!

Sweet! Good luck down your way, Irene's outer rain and wind bands just hit the Jersey shore, so looks like Monday w/b the earliest I'd get out again.

Hi d,
Engine and compartment look REALLY nice.
To my eye it shows an example of "it's not how much you spend, it's a matter of how WELL you do the work"!
Good detailing!
Regards,
Alan

Nice job, but methinks you're being a little too self-effacing with your fuel line critique. No Bubba could ever be capable of such nice work, and the brass fittings do give it a nice factory-ish look. Well done indeed!

Thanks for the compliments gents! The fuel lines are ok for the time being. Im not happy with the rear feed line, I tried to straighten a previously bent one and looks it! Like I said,, good winter project. Till then I cant wait to get her out. Im expecting serious performance improvements. Eye candy is just talk if we cant blister some pavement.

Nice installation. What is your source of vacuum for your pcv valve?

Got her out of the barn today She romps pretty good. I think I may need to jet up one size...seem to have slight lean spot in transition. But at WOT

I was actually gonna go on a mini rant about this one. Edelbrock conveniently put the manifold vacuum port where it cant be used with a Holley DP. Luckily, Holley countered on the Ultra series with a 3/8 PCV port in front and a brake port on the back in normal location. Carb also has normal 3/16 manifold vacuum for advance on right front. I installed a 3/8 T at the front PCV port, ran one to PCV valve and one to trans and accessories. PIA but it all works.

Kept the XE268 I installed 3 years ago. Time and $$ didnt allow, and we checked the lifters and lobes and it's silky smooth...so we left it there. It could probably use a little more cam, but I'm not out racing anybody, just having fun. DCR dialed in very nicely!

Looks GREAT! Very neat and clean. I like the aluminum lines BUT one thing concerns me a little. They way the hard line comes off the frame and remains hard all way to the carb, I think, will fatigue lines and fittings because of engine vibration and movement and cause a leak or worse.
IMO, since you are changing them out anyway, I would cut out a small section after the filter, flare the ends and hose clamp a rubber section of hose to make the connection so it has some give to it.

Perhaps it's just me, but I'd be concerned with the spark plug wires tightly bundled with tie wraps.
