Default carb to intake manifold specs

i have a 77 vette with a 350 rochester quadra jet carb. it has a heat insulator gasket under carb...does anybody know the torque specs for the 4 mounting bolts from the carb to the intake manifold?

I didn't see an answer here, so I'll dive in I've never seen a torque value for this - and my service manuals just have "tighten evenly". It's certainly not a torqued fastner, and you don't want to overtighten - but just snug is fine...I guess I would estimate 7-10 lbs-ft if I had to put a number on it...?

Anyone else?

It's been a long, long time since I fooled with a Q-jet. But as I recall, you can bow the top of the carb if you torque the 4 perimeter mounting bolts too much. I did and ended up sanding it down on a piece of sandpaper on a piece of plate glass to ensure evenness. As far as torque value goes, it doesn't take much to get it to seal on a new gasket so billla's got it about right.

12 ft-lbs. This from 1971 CSM. IIRC, it also has a tightening order diagram. All this is buried in the carbs section of the CSM.

Follow the diagram. If you went around in a circle, that was probably the source of your leak.
