Where do you get your oil filters?
I have always bought my filters at Wal-mart because, while I am not a fan of Fram filters, I could get their premium filter for a lot less than a Purolator or Mobil 1 filter at an auto parts store. Today, I went to Wal-mart and they did not have the filter for my '81 except in the Fram economy filter. They no longer stock the premium filter in my size. So I went to Autozone and they also no longer carry the filter in anything except the cheapo. What are you guys doing?

You guys are the best! Napa is a little out of the way, but they have my filter ($5.04) in stock! And I love Wix filters, I used to use them on my '67 Mustang back in high school.

If you are running the stock exhaust manifolds, you can fit the medium truck filter. NAPA calls it a 1794, in their Gold Series filter line. It has enough filtering area that your pump will probably never go into a bypass mode, and you will filter 100% of the oil 100% the time. You will get more oil to the bearings at all times, because the pressure drop across the filter is lower than the (much smaller) passenger car filter.
If you are running headers, you will have to check for clearance first. If you have an engine oil cooler, you probably won't be able to use it, it will most likely hang too low.

NAPA is a little out of my way as well but I only do 1,000-1,500 miles each year so that means just one oil change (just done before the coming winter and storage). So I buy three when there and that does me for the same number of years.

F/ sure WIX and NAPA. I bought a starter f/ my '81 'Vette this past year and had a conversation w/ the guys at NAPA about in the '60s and early'70s never hearing of a shim to get the starter to fit properly and spin w/o the crazy "zing" sound of teeth not meshing. This came into play inthe '80s from what I remember. We spoke f/ awhile, and I bought the starter they had in stock, afew dollars more than AutoZone, etc., and went home and installed it, without any shim. I hit the key, and just like cotton on cotton, it spun and started the engine w/o a sound. Beautiful everytime. So it's not just the WIX filters that are better, as I've read in filter reviews where they cut the filters in half and check f/ what's in there to filter your oil and how, it's most all the parts that NAPA carries, that are alittle more expensive, but worth the few extra dollars. Fram is rated one of the worst, even their best filters. 2 guys who have built 455 Olds engines have had engines lock up due to Fram filters. I have a 455 Olds in a '62 Ford pick-up and I frequent the Olds site often. I ran Fram filters all the time years back, but stopped in the last ten years.

FWIW, I don't get involved in the oil threads. They are tedious but just a comment here. I have used Castrol GTX 10W-30 for many years in my Corvettes and for the last the last five or so (a 1967 and a 1974) added the little bottle on the left. Inexpensive insurance. No problems. I do use Mobil-1 in my DD, a modern Impala.

I'm a little surprised to see your local Walmart doesn't have more of a selection. There are no Walmart stores in New York but in near by New Jersey they carry A/C Delco.

But what can you get these days? The original for C3 was PF-25. The larger alternative was PF-35. Then the PF-25 was gone as was the PF-35. The PF-1218 was close to a PF-35 but it is ? replaced by a tiny PF-454. GM/Delco does not take care of older cars. NAPA/WIX does.

that's the one i use, the extra capacity is a bonus for keeping the oil cleaner. doesn't dilute with contaminants. as easilydue to volume. anyone know if Hastings and Donaldson still make filters? both were excellent filters.
