I am working on a new engine combination for my 76 vette.Right now a 421 shp based sbc is the way i'm leaning towards.I already have victor jr intake and custom image ss side pipes.Afr 210 or 227 heads were my
1st choice but now I'm thinking maybe dart platinum pro1 230 heads.Being new to this forum I'd like to say hello to everyone and thanks for your input. Also this is a street/strip build up and will most definitely use a hydraulic roller camshaft.I want to have combo dialed before any more parts are bought, any vendor that wishes to suggest a specific combo feel free to pm me.
This build will have forged 4340 rotating assembly with around 10 to1 compression ratio.I am looking at a howards hydraulic roller cam with
.565/.580 lift and .247/.253 duration @.05 with 112 lsa.Car will be getting .355 or 3.70 rear axle ratio with built 2004r trans.Carb will be 850 dp quick fuel or holley.I have vbp smart struts and 420 lb spring for
the vette in the garage.I am leaning towards straight plug heads to hopefully limit fitment issues.Anyone with the ss side pipes please let me know of any issues.
You might want to check out the "AFR heads..." post by MOTORHEAD- seems some have had oil standing in AFR heads while others haven't. Hard to believe such a problem would not have been quickly solved. His post was 15 ahead of you at 8:34 CST on 11/13/11. FYI
Look up tpi421Vette in the C4 tech section. He builds a lot of 421s and knows how to make them sing and have good manners. Would pass on the Darts if given the choice between the two. Talk to someone who knows the facts not the cereal box readers.
