New to me 69 Convertible
Wanted to say high to the C3 guys. I had a C6 for 5 years and recently sold it. So my new toy is a 69 Convertible 350/350 4 speed.
I have had it just a few days now. Its a driver but updated somewhat and preforms well.
My first question is about radiator. I did research and have the capacity at 15 quarts . However when I look in mine the level seems low. I have no way of knowing how much is in there now and it looks brand new. It does seem silly to me to ask ...How far up to top off? And no overflow bottle just a hose? I don't want to overfill and have a mess.
Thanks in advance..._david

Hi David,
Wow!
That's a great looking car! It looks to be in great condition. I believe you're in for some big fun with it.
I don't know enough about the radiators without surge tanks to answer your question but I'm sure someone will.
Did Santa bring that early? I didn't know you could put a car on your list!!!!
Regards,
Alan

69 350 with AC did not come with a separate expansion tank. The radiator will usually find it's own level. Just below full by an inch or 2 usually works so you don't get any puking.
Nice looking 69.

Nice. I had a 1970 convertible with base engine and auto trans...loved it. Nothing like sidepipes for a good rumpity-rump sound . I too had a C6 LS2 Vette (2006) which i sold , and now have a 1970 built big block Corvette with M21 gearbox. The 2006 was a great refined corvette but i prefer the loud raw power and lines, from the early chrome bumper C3 era.

David, the 69 Corvette with A/C came with the "Heavy Duty" radiator, and that one holds 18.5 quarts, so you are a little low. But like Paul said, just fill it up to a inch or two below the filler and you should be okay.

Thank you for the responses guys. I knew I could get the answers here. I am sure I will have more and in future I will most probably be able to help out another C3 newb.
To answer a question about going from a C6 to a C3. Well I had many dollars invested in the C6. I drove it a lot first 3 years, it was brand new, and of course a Vette! However I did several mods and didn't want to do more mainly because how much most of them cost. I guess you could say I just drove it and had nothing to work on. I sold the C6 did some upgrades on house and still could buy this car outright. And now I am sure I have something I will have to work on!

Awesome! If I could order a C3 from the factory that would be the color combo I would pick! Very nice and good luck! More pictures please! White or black top?
