Default Color of 1977 interior question?

If interior is buckskin what color was the Speedo Tach housing or dash face supposed to be?

Hi RC,
I believe that through the 77 model year the large gauge bezels, center gauge bezel, and the console plate were semi-flat black with expose chrome highlights, regardless of interior color.
Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Alan

Oddly enough, some (very few) 77's came with a two tone dash. Where the upper (foward of the rolled upper edge) was a darker color and the lower was a lighter one.

And there you have it.. Massive Holiday Confusion!

This is exactly what I was talking about and I didn't have a picture. Thanks Mike. The multi colored upper pads were dyed too... they were not molding in two colors. There is currently no one producing the multi-colored upper pads but the solution is to order the one with the correct edge color and dye the forward (speaker) area!

Newer dye than the other panels. Clean up your remaining panels and dye to match.

Pic. of two tone upper dash pad and closeup of front instrument panel. Note darker color in the recesses.

The one thing I have with mine is that no two groups of panels are the same exact color. Not like red or black interiors. It is a '70's hodgepodge. mike...

And now it gets even better... we used to get the vinyl parts in with those dark speckles in them... but I'm not sure they are available now... I'll have to check for my own knowledge. I know at one time the material wasn't available.

I always liked it.. had a tiger look to it.

Dye over top of the lighter panel with a darker color dye (let dry obviously) and sand lightly with 2000 grit to remove some of what you just put down. If you do it lightly enough, it will expose the original light color BUT will leave the darker tone remaining in the grain / groves. (tedious but it works)
