My '75 with Mallory HEI isn't getting spark. I've got power to the distributor, I replaced the coil and I replaced the ignition module. Battery is worn down but with a jump I'm getting 12V, goes to ~10 on cranking. The car cranks just fine, no issues. What should I look at next?
Was the car previously running with this distributor in it?
Have you verified that the distributor shaft is spinning?
The only part you havent changed that is responsible for creating the spark is the pick up coil that triggers the module.
They do fail. They are cheap to replace, but you will have to pull the distributor and disassemble it to replace the pick up.
The car ran fine with the existing distributor. The last time I drove it was on a rough gravel road where I parked it -maybe something shook lose. I have not checked the distributor shaft. How do I do this? Hand turn the crank and check to see if the rotor moved?
Well, apparently I am not getting power to the distributor. Could have sworn I was before, but not now. Still not running obviously. Off to track down the issue. Any helpful hints are greatly appreciated.
