Default New Exhaust manifold question

Has anyone had experience with the new exhaust manifolds?
I need a set for an LT-1 and see where they are being offered new and reported that they are from the original cast. The new ones are running around $190 each so I don't want to buy them and have them be junk. On the other hand it would be nice having them be new with no cracks or broken studs.

Opinions?

Hi spf,
Do you know who the manufacturer/supplier is? That may give you some idea of what to expect.
I agree that at that price it would be nice to have them turn out to be what you hoped for.
Regards,
Alan

My own shop experience is to stay away from the imported version of the manifold. (They are available).

We have the manifolds you speak of on the forum parts section of our site @ 195.00 each, use the sale coupon code TENPERCENT, that makes them 175.50 ea.

The US version is made by Paragon...

Alan, here is what they say about them -

For small blocks w/AIR, IT is NEW , threads are Perfect. MADE IN the original GM tooling SET FROM CHEVROLET. not a repro --- it is a Re-Run off the GM tooling under license.

From this I would say they are US made but it doesn't say they are. They are from another Corvette parts supplier.

Sounds like what Wilcox is selling as well and I would probably buy them from them as a Forum supplier. I assume yours are from the same supplier?

Hi spf,
I'm still not clear who 'they' are.
I think Paragon is one of the top "reproducers" of parts that they sell and distribute, and Willcox's reputation has been well earned here.

Alan

Thanks for the kind words Alan.

The manifolds that I posted the link for above are USA made. They are as close to an original manifold as you'll ever see and to my knowledge they are made on the last version tooling from GM. But since they are no longer available from GM, we still must call them a reproduction.

Willcox.

Alan,

They = Crane Corvette Supply

Probably a great place but I do not know anything about them -saw them on e-bay and I would rather support forum vendors if I have the choice.

I bought my rad core support from Crane which was really just a Coffman Radiator support. While the Coffman radiator support was not the best quality, I had no problems with Crane.
