Good Luck with the surgery Lars. Your vast technical knowledge and your unselfish willingness to share it with us all is truly appreciated. Lets all hope that the surgery is a success and you have a quick recovery.

PS Was this caused by not switching arms when hoisting good adult beverages?

Thanks again, guys - I still can't get over all the support and the kind words from all of you - it's quite overwhelming.

I just got out of surgery yesterday and I'm back home again. I believe the operation went well, and I'm already regaining use of my left arm and hand. If I could drink a beer, I'm sure I could hold it in my left hand without spilling now... Currently suffering through the anticipated post-surgery discomforts: They have me dolled up in the sexy anti-blood-clotting stockings and a neck brace that looks like something out of a cheap made-for-TV lawsuit show. I'm pretty doped up on pain killers, but I seem to be on the road to recovery. I'm going to get out to the workshop today and do a little carb tinkering just to keep my sanity: Those of you who have seen me on the Tuning for Beer Tours know I can't sit still or slow down much below 100mph, and as long as I;m not lifting anything, I should be good with the carb work. I have another engine ready for a dyno session, but I'll have to put that off for a week or two and get someone to help manhandle the thing into the truck and onto the dyno.

I've also received some heartfelt well wishes via e-mail, and I want to let you know how much appreciated this is. As always, I'm available to all true enthusiasts with technical assistance and current how-to tech papers.

Thank you again to everyone here!

By the way:
How do you post up a dyno chart into a post so it can be seen in the body of the post without having to click on a link..? Do you first save to a .pdf file, or can the Excel chart be posted? I'd like to post up a Q-Jet versus Holley back-to-back dyno run when I go on the dyno in a few weeks, but I can't seem to figure out the chart posting - any help would be appreciated.

Great to hear that you're back from surgery! Get well soon!

As regards to posting a chart, one method that works for me is to export the chart as a pdf, and then convert the pdf to a jpg.

Cheers!

You can always do a Print Screen and then paste it in to MS Paint, crop and size as you like and then host it to photobucket or tinypic.

If you have it in Excel, email it to anyone here once you have it and we can post it up.

Glad to hear the recovery is going well. My rich smelling Holley 4175 wishes you were closer by.

Great to hear you are recovering.

Now, I am not a Dr., but as to pain killers wouldn't the local pub be a source for some "medication"?

That's the question: How to I convert the .pdf to a .jpg?

Update: Just figured it out... think I got it!

Lars,

I can't help you on the graph conversion, sorry. But very glad to hear surgery went well and everything is looking good. Careful with mixing the beer with your RX pain medication b/c alcohol will potentiate the narcotic. SO ... one or two cold ones at most. Sorry bud. When possible, I'd like to know what to actual diagnosis was and what procedure was performed for your surgery. Cryotherapy or cold packs soon can be used over the surgical site and research has show that it will help speed your recovery and healing rates. In short, when the cold pack is applied it causes vasoconstriction( shrinks the blood vessels) and decreases the blood flow to the region where applied therefore decreasing tissue edema and swelling. Cold is also analgesic and reduces pain levels. 10 to 15 mins on and then remove for 20-30 mins. Once cold pack is off and the blood vessels are no longer constricted blood flow increases and helps flush through the soft tissues and increase oxygen content. So little rotations on and off of cryotherapy will help increase your healing rate and decrease swelling and pain. Try it once you have began healing and the surgical area has sealed up.

best wishes in your recovery.

Sully

That is certainly good news!!

I agree with Sully: some medications and beer/alcohol are not a good mix. So tread carefully until the recovery is well advanced and on the advice of your physician.

Be well!

First and foremost, glad everything went well. As you can tell, we're pulling for you.
Someday when you're feeling up to it...."Tuning for CANADIAN beer...."
I'll go out and turn all the adjustments on my quad random amounts in random directions, put a few linkages on backwards and get it running like it was when I bought it.

I meant what I had said, without your papers this thing would be back in the field as far as I could throw it.... And I'm sure it could still be better if I went back and re-read most of them.
Thanks Lars

Most systems today allow you to select some PDF writer as the printer under print setup, then just print as you would for paper and it will ask for a file name and location, that will allow the PDF to be made. Still shows as a link on the posting I believe.
Screen capture into some paint program will allow the creation of the jpeg which can thing be put into the body of the message.
