Bee Jay's Lightweight radiator install! 15lbs lost!
My buddy Paul Dana upgraded to a Cadillac Dewitts radiator, so I got his ebay aluminum radiator. He used it up in the desert with no problems, so it should perform fine here where a hot day is 80 degrees.
The aluminum radiator only weighs 15lbs. My stock 37 year old radiator weighs 30lbs. So I'm losing another 15 lbs. I swapped the radiators today and I'll drive the car next week to see the alloy radiator perfoms. My main motivation was losing another 15lbs.

Like Jethro, I have a 5th grade edumacation. I can do simple math. It's typing that I struggle with, especially when you text with thumbs. The original radiator weighs 30lbs with 99% of the water drained. The alloy radiator weighs 15lbs. 30 minus 15 is.......hmm, carry the three, take the sqaure root, multiply by Pi, where the hell is that calculator? Oh, there is an app for that.
I saved 15 lbs. I fixed the original post.

HOT DAMN!
My drive to work is about 10 miles, 5 miles freeway, sit at the gate entrance for about 10 minutes, then 5 miles of Air Force Base driving. I warm the car up the first mile or so on the freeway, then I push it. After I get thru the gate, I'm usually at about 180 degrees with my 165 degree thermostat. Today I didn't get to 165 degrees till I got to the gate, and the temperture never budged above that. Even when I went back home to have brunch with my daughter. I need to get a hotter thermostat. This aluminum radiator cools. I'll drive the car to Pismo Beach and back (about 110 round trip miles with a mountain pass) this weekend and report again. But so far so good.

If you keep reducing the weight of the car with all these cool (sic) tricks you've done, BeeJay, you may have to park on the air ramp so you can tie-down the car.
Would hate to see it get blown into the next lot on a breezy day.

I weighed the car today. I'm down to
3100 lbs.
That's 500lbs lighter than when I bought the car new in 1979.
The car never got over 165 degrees all day, and spent a lot of time down near 150 degrees. Even the oil temp stayed low. I think that is too cool. I will be buying a higher temp thermostat. What is the ideal temperature for a small block with aluminum heads, headers, performer air gap, LT4 Hot Cam hydraulic roller and about 10 to 1 CR? I've never run too cool before, now I have to warm things up a bit.

I've been asked to do a thread on all of my weight loss threads, so maybe I'll work on that this weekend. In the mean time, do a search on my username. I documented most of them here on Corvette Forum. Also do a search on username: Panic.
The bumper weight loss mods are in my signature below.
