Default Re-Establishing shims on #4 and #8 body mounts

I am replacing the body mounts on a 76 coupe. The rear mounting bushings and shims were rusted away beyond recognition. I am replacing the steel cages on the body and the frame mounts are good. However, there is no way to tell how many shims were in there originally.
Is there a basic starting point like 1 or 2 shims per side or how can I easily determine how many shims are needed on these 2 mounts
upon replacement of all of the body mounts?

Did you record the shim stacks on the other six mounts? If so, use the same stacks. With that done, you will essentially take up the slack at #4 and #8.
