TRW supplied forged pistons to GM for many years in both production and service applications and it wouldn't surprise me if the original pistons for your 1980 L-82 are TRW units. The pistons will have a GM part number (generally stamped on the dome or face of the piston) as well as the TRW identification usually found on the underside of the dome.
There are some subtle differences between production (those originally installed on the assembly line) and service (parts counter) pistons. I think you'll find that the production pistons will be a bit lighter and generally have a higher compression height than service replacements.
