Front to rear brake line
Hi,
I'm going to be replacing my front to rear brake line. I'm off next weekend so I don't have time to wait to order one, was going to buy a universal stick from auto parts store and bend it up myself.
So the question is, what size pc do I need an how long? Was hoping someone would know so I can buy before pulling old one.
As always thanks for the support the forum provides

Look to the left!
Ed,
Look to the column on the left of your screen and choose one of the vendors that sells brake lines. I can recommend Willcox, as I have had good service from them, even though I am in Australia and mainly buy low dollar amounts.
They will have one for you, just be aware that due to the length and fragility of the item, the packing and postage might cost more than the part. For this reason, I suggest that you buy all of the parts you need from one vendor and they can put more parts in a big package.

Melting Slicks
I think I measured around 60" when I was doing the body off on my '74 but I ended up buying a complete stainless set.
I may have the old one in my scrap pile. If I remember today I'll measure it.

Burning Brakes
You can buy any size brake line you want at any auto supply. Get a line that is too long and fit it in and then have someone with a flaring tool put a flare on it where you have it fitted. Any mechanic will have the tool .
Keep in mind that Stainless Steel lines are hard to work with .

anyone know the end sizes, it appears the front and rear ends are different sizes? or did I pull the wrong part upfront?
I keep telling myself it will be all worth it in the end.

Hi 69,
I believe the front fitting is 1/2" and the rear is 3/8" on my 71.
I measured my original line just roughly, and it looks like it will take at least an 8' piece of tubing.
Of the long lines it has to be the easiest!
Good Luck!

Alan
