That's what I have 265's and 295's you have to move the e-brake braket to make them fit or grind it down :D

I have 295/50/r15s mounted on custom Cragers. Only needed a small 1/4 spacers and a little bit of grinding on each rotors. Very little grinding. They fit perfect and lowered the car about in inch. THey look great and the handling is like a slot car. The best mod I have ever made!

motorhead...did you move or grind yours down? I have mind grinded down...i hope its enough...anyone grind with the 295/50?
and the 265/50's fit up front without any mods? I was thinking of the 245/60's which are 26.5, but i think i like the look of the lower 25.5 (265/50) in the front making the back look a bit higher

Re: 295/50/r15's (74VETTE)
Oh yeah almost forgot --> sperry74 welcome to the forum.
74VETTE --> I ground mine down and have about 1/8 of an inch clearance. I used to check the tire every so often to make sure it wasn't rubbing but they never did rub.
A word of warning to anyone reading this thread, every Vette is different and the best way to so this is to relocate the bracket as it could cut your tire down very easily.
Brutus --> There are a few areas that are close ( muffler pipe, rear spring etc ) the only way to know is to test fit, but you should be albe to get them on

Thanks motorhead...I would even use a 1/4 inch spacer if I had to make them fit better...im not too worried about them hanging out a lil bit.
Do you have a side view of your car...im curious how it sits with the 265 / 295 combo
thanks again

I'm running 265/50 in front and 295/50's in the rear on stock wheels. The last owner had ZL1 fenders installed (or made??) but it look freaky, I now have a 7/16" spacers on all four and I haven't noticed any rubbing in any place. The rear clearance is pretty small though.

Hi,
I have 295/50`s on the original 81 alloys with no cutting, grinding or rubbing. They are probably a tad to big for the 8 inch rims but the car drives ok. The only minor problem is the low speed rating but so far I havn`t had any problems at the yearly inspection. Fortunately I came across a set of 3 piece Gotti split rims, 11x15 for the rear and 9x15 fronts which the guy had nothing to put them on. I got them for $150 and they will be fine with a good clean and the centers repainted. I just need to find someone who is good with glass to have some arch work done at the end of this summer and get the car painted again.

Re: 295/50/r15's (JHL81)
Has anybody been able to fit 295s on the rear and keep them inside the stock fender? I'd love to bolt a set on, but I'm just not sure they would look/fit correctly. I'm thinking that offset trailing arms, 15x10 wheels with 5" backspacing, and 295/50/15 tires should do it. Anybody been there?
I've seen cars with them sticking out of the fender, and cars with them on 8" wheels, but I'd prefer something a little less *aggressive* ;)

Re: 295/50/r15's (inferno-vette)
Paul,
They are motorbike race cans. I was looking for some mufflers at the time but they were expensive over here and I happened to be in a motorbike shop and saw them. They fit perfectly and tuck up neatly at the back. They are MICRON`s with an alloy body and stainless ends, 2-1/2" slip on fittings and you can see straight through them.
They are now lying in my garage as I have a nice set of chrome sidepipes to go on this summer.
