With all that has been said so far on this thread it makes the 212 mph speed recorded on the Mulsanne Straight at LeMans in 1972 by no.4 L88 Corvette seem even more remarkable.

my interest in my c3 is either street drag or 40 roll to 120-;;; destroying every 911 turbo, new vette, etc... with as much nitrous as needed to do it....gas baby gas !!!

Besides, in city traffic the lack of a rear hood seal invites hot engine compartment air into the cabin.

FWIW, tho I've studied up on this stuff a bit, I don't have a sheepskin in the subject, but if I can ever afford to get my shark back in service I do have instrumentation on hand with which to gather supportive data. (Donations to the cause graciously accepted. )

I won't be doing 160 mph....but I needed to know about the under-hood rear seal...thanks!

(I realize no one wants to add weight...but my '69 Camaro came stock with a pair of 50 lb. each canisters mounted on the outboard radiator support ends....and a pair in the trunk by the tail lights)

I had a hand in this hood along with Terry and Jim. You don't want to know the barbell on this one!

On the triple digit subject.... I'm finally swapping out the 5th gears in my Tremec - to the proper ratio so she'll continue pulling hard past the 140's...

The car actually had a better top end charge with the ole muncie and a 3:08 rear... will be nice to remedy that

my SBC doesn't have any pulling power in 5th gear at 140+. thinking of 3:55 instead of 3:73 to increase top speed in 4th. would like to install an ATI Procharger ,but to do that right it would take $5,000. need to work on ground effects first. T

I have around 650hp, so pulling is not an issue, but the jump form 4-5 is way to great to be used on a race track.... it is nothing but a cruising gear... not what i wanted.

With 4.11 my 434 was able to accelerate while in the .64 OD. But the jump from 4-5 sucked. with 4.11 I was shifting 4-5 @ 135-140 mph.

I installed the 3.55 rear so I could redline in 4th @160 something so I would not have to use 5th on the bigger road racing tracks. Now my 5th is just an over 70 mph freeway gear

So fellas - with a 3.08 rear end and 27" tall rubber theoretical top end at, say 6500 rpm would be perhaps 165/170 mph. How about the addition of an 'old school' Hone overdrive (or 'modern world' Gear Vendors O/Drive) - do we think it would 'pull' OK (in theory, naturally!)
