The pad looks like it's marked V1o05CUB I know V stands for Flint but have no idea what the rest means. I was told it's a 1969 350 but what did it come out of?

Default Engine ID

Check out

http://www.nastyz28.com/gm-chevy-cod...s-suffix-3.php

They have some pretty handy ID Engine stuff on there but from what it looks like

V-Flint
10-October
05-5th day
CUB- Engine Suffix Code for 1975 (Vette) and 1977 (B Body) 350

Be sure to double check it for yourself. What are the head casting numbers?

That's a 'short pad' block which didn't come out till '77 or later. Since GM reused codes over and over in different years, knowing the casting date of the block is important.

None of my other small blocks have the short pad. I just laid across the engine and this is what I saw. Gm13970010 also on the other side in the back I saw what looked like J26. It's been a while but doesn't that mean Jan. 2nd 1976? Thanks

J 2 6 is October 6 1976, a block that would have been used in the '77 model year.

CUB= 1977 350 LM1 170hp 4bbl B-body
